About Me

I am a historian (and member of the Professional Historian's Association (Queensland) based in Brisbane. My qualifications include a Grad. Dip. (Applied History) and a BA (Anthropology), both from the University of Queensland. My study areas included archaeology, sociocultural anthropology, religion, museum studies, and local and applied history.

I'm very active in the community, including roles in the following history and heritage organisations: Boggo Road Gaol Historical Society (Inc.) (founder and committee member); Boggo Arts & Heritage Alliance (founder and committee member); Brisbane Southside History Network (co-founder and committee member); Friends of South Brisbane Cemetery (secretary); and National Trust of Queensland (councillor, 2012).

My research areas have included prisons, capital punishment in Queensland, colonial suburban history, river shark attacks, and cemeteries, among other things. I have published dozens of books, booklets and journal articles, installed museum exhibitions, and ran cemetery night tours. I have even developed the very popular 'Ghosts of South Brisbane Cemetery', looking at ghost stories with a healthy dash of skepticism.

In the course of all this work I have had quite a lot of, well, 'interesting' experiences dealing with the paranormal industry, which has eventually led me to start this website.
